File Information in Photoshop
Thursday July 3, 2003

Section 1: Protect your photos!

Author's Home Page

It is vital for photographers to take every advantage of copyright to insure our future as a profession. I want to stress some additional information that every photographer should prioritize. You can place copyright protection information within your digital files, and I suggest that you go a step further by requesting that any publisher scanning your images places this information into the digital files as well.

I am referring to the File Information available in Photoshop. You would not send out an original slide without your name so please make sure your digital files are given the same protection. By placing this information, commonly known as meta data, you gain additional protection under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
