I am interested in the Epson 2200 for it's 13" roll paper support. I have also heard it has or can be made to produce superior B&W; prints. But I have also read (in other forums) of problems with the 2200 print drivers running under Mac OS X. Can anyone clear the air on this?

BTW, I am currently using a Canon S9000 to produce primarily 13x19 prints. I am very happy with the quality of of the S9000 prints, but would be interested in any comparison between the S9000 and 2200.

Thanks,

Joe

The only problem I've had with the 2200/OS X is that hot-swapping the matte and photo black carts doesn't work. When I change blacks, I have to delete the printer from print center, then add it back. I can live with that...

Compared to the S9000, you may be unhappy with the reds on the 2200pigments don't have the gamut of dyes. But the prints last a lot longer...

I have another question concerning the 2200 and OSX. How do I clear the print que? I have tried the Epson Printer Utility, and there is no que. Also how do I set up custom page size? I go into page set up> then custom paper size> then click new> type in size> save, and it just goes back to the original sizen, not the new one I just saved

Applications>Utilities .. Print Center! Select your printer from Print List and then delete whatever print job you want via the Job Menu

You need to select the new size from the Paper Size popup in the Page Setup dialog!

I set up to print on some 25mil watercolor paper on my 2200 today for the first time and realized because I hadn't needed to previously, that I couldn't feed the paper through the back in OSX 10.2.3 as the epson software would not give me the option of choosing a feed tray.

So I booted into OS9 for the first time in months and could feed the paper as needed through the back and could print after rechoosing my printer.(I had swapped in matte black cartridge)
I take it from this thread that I should be able to have this functionality in OSX?

The driver version I have been using is espon10686 as indicated on Epson websight... should also support borderless printing which it also won't do on my setup.

Also I have been unable to use firewire in OSX no problem in OS9.

Thoughts ....?

Dave-

I'm using firewire to the Epson 2200 in OSX without issue. I'm running a 12in PowerBook G4 with OSX 10.2.6.

I haven't tried to feed thick paper through the straight feeder yet.

regards- mj

Dear experts:

I am using a Mac G4 with OS 10.2.6 and am not able to download from Epson nor find a printer driver for the 2200 either for firewire or USB connections.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you for the website. I apologize for the confusing post.

I have downloaded both OS X drivers and tried to install them but the most I have gotten is on one when I opened Print Center it said 'driver not loaded'. For the other driver that Epson offered on the download site I got nothing.

I have tried using the Find feature to see if I had mulitple drivers installed but no.

I have had the 2200 working with the older versions of OS X and gimp print then when it became available the Epson driver. After upgrading the system I have not been able to get anything to work.

I am baffled.

You have to now actually install the driver in Print Center. If you have the
Epson installed under USB (my recommendation), click on the "Add" button. In
Printer List pick "Epson USB" and install.
