AuthorSubject: Losing detail in saturated color or dark areas with Epson 2200   [Go to Bottom of Page]

Iím printing with an Epson 2200 on a Win XP Pro machine using Enhanced Matte and matte black ink. My setup uses Photoshop and driver settings found here:
http://www.scrantonproject.com/2200/print_01/
I had tried using the canned Epson profiles when I first started using the printer, but found the results worse than with my current precedure.

There are times when areas of the print seem to block up. Itís particularly noticeable in areas of fairly saturated color or darker colors. In these instances the color seems to either overwhelm some fine details or in darker areas may ďclump upĒ a bit making blotches that hide the details. FWIW, the pictures were all made with a Canon D60 or 10D typically at ISO 400.

Iím wondering what may cause this and whether thereís a straightforward fix for the problem.
