Hi All,

I'm reading a book Professional Photoshop, the classic guide to color correction (4th edition) by Dan Margulis and he seems to make more use out of that extra channel than I thought possible. He writes that some images that start with RGB and will be printed are not worth changing modes to CMYK and other are because you can take advantage of the weak color and the black channel. I haven't finished the book yet and it looks like there are some nifty ways to take a channel from a duplicate image and blend it in without converting the main image from RGB to CMYK.

I'm curious to know how common these techniques are and how I can tell better when I need to use them. Also if there is a alternate approach? I did download and read Mr. Varis' pdf document on using the channel mixer - thats how I got started.

Thanks
Eric Hiss
