AuthorSubject: Atkinson Sharpening Method vs. Photokit Sharpener   [Go to Bottom of Page]

About 2 years ago I took Bill Atkinson's digital imaging class. At that time,
he advocated conversion to L*a*b* and then sharpening only the lightness channel.
He used his version of "find edges" on the lightness channel to create a mask, then applied USM with high amount and low radius filtered by that mask. The whole process was set up in a photoshop action, with minimal intervention from the user. I have been using this method and have been quite pleased with it, but am always looking for something better.

Any comments from the Photokit Sharpener authors about why the upcoming software will be better/quicker/easier?
