Hi,
I need a Firewire Scanner to replace my aged (is it really 10 years old?) Umax PowerLook 1 SCSI.

It seems the Epson Perfection 3200 is a good deal for the money.

I just read a glowing article on it in Shuttebug by David Brooks.

Iím leaning towards the Pro version that comes with the full version of SilverFast, and Monaco EZcolor and ArcSoft Panorama Maker. Iíve been a srudent of Color Management for years and have worked with Radius Monitors and Calibrators in the past. Now I am using an Apple LCD Cinema Display, and am hoping Monaco EZcolor will be of some assistance.

I primarily need the scanner for all around flatbed work, and for all formats of scanning slides and negs for work in digital illustration programs such as Photoshop 7, Illustrator 10 and Painter 8. I compared the 3200 with the UMAX PowerLook 1100 which I have some experience with (I've borrowed my friendís) and the Epson seems to up to the task.

Iím on Mac OS X. FYI, I do have SCSI available on my machine.

Any comments, opinions or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance and so long for now, TOM
