AuthorSubject: Scanning Software for LS 4000   [Go to Bottom of Page]

Hi All,

I note a couple of recent references to Vuescan on this site. And I see that Lasersoft has dropped their price on Silverfast for the Nikon LS-4000 (competition is not a bad thing). A third option for this scanner is the Nikon software which according to the Apple ColorSync Utility has a whole bunch of bad profiles.

Would greatly appreciate info on practical use of these items and particularly on the quality of profiles built by Vuescan and Silverfast using IT8 targets. Has anyone tried using the feature of Vuescan that builds profiles for negatives?

How about a book? _Real World Vuescan_? It has been interesting to observe the process of evolution of the application. It certainly is complex enough to warrant a thorough manual. If anyone has workflow suggestions to share that would be great.
