A lot of discussion on proper lighting and environmental conditions in the digital darkroom have been discussed. Here is a PDF from GTI, the makers of excellent light boxes. It does provide some information from the ISO 3664:2000 standard.

This may be related to my thread about not being able to log onto the secure server at IR.

Since yesterday my PC (W2000) has shown some odd stuff happening - and I checked for the MSBlaster virus.

The most obvious today is that my internal hard drives are all running real slow. I opened one of my image files from a backup hard drive (pretty full) and it took 110s to open a 275Mb file. The exact same file from my external firewire drive took 15s. Normally the internal drives are a bit faster than the firewire external. The other drives, which are quite empty, also run slow.

In fact I have noticed a lag in everthing today, PS7 takes longer to crank up than usual.

Has anyone any thoughts on how hard drives can slow down like this?

They are all 7200rpm ATA100 IDE drives and whilst no speed demons they usually perform adequately. I expect a file to open in about 12s for my 275Mb 6x12 flextight scans - not 110s!

Help.
