AuthorSubject: DVD Burner for Archiving   [Go to Bottom of Page]

I'm shooting with a IDs and working on a PowerBook G4 with a 1 Gig processor. 40 gig hardrive on the computer, as well as a 60 gig Firewire external. And by shooting RAW they're filling up too quick!
So: archive solutions. I decided to archive finished jobs onto DVD by burning onto my Mac SuperDrive. Only problem is that it's amazingly slow. The last full burn took well over 2 hours to copy, burn, check.

Is there a faster solution out there that's FireWire and will work with Mac OSX? I read a recommendation for the Sony DRX510UL external in a recent DigitalProShooter newsletter. Has anyone worked with this in the Mac OSX environment and have some idea of burn time?

Any other suggestions for an external DVD FireWire drive would be most welcome as well. Thanks all for you time.
