Last night I did a studio shoot using a 1D; RAW format, elinchrom strobes, and found that shots of one gentleman's brown tweed type jacket had a significant moire pattern (blue/orange) present in his pictures. Same result occurred whether I converted from RAW using ACR or FVU.

I found that I can remove most of it in PS7 by creating a duplicate layer, roughly selecting the jacket, applying a gaussian blur, and changing the blending mode to color. This cleaned up the jacket, except for a few areas (still appeared orange) that I could clean up with the clone tool.

Similar results could also be obtained by coverting to LAB mode, and blurring the a and b channels (the orange splotch still remained).

I tried Fred Miranda's action, and had less success with it than the other two methods.

Are there any other methods or plugins/actions that work to effectively remove moire pattern?

Thanks,
Arnie
