AuthorSubject: Capture One Vs. CameraRAW   [Go to Bottom of Page]

Before CameraRAW was released I tried CaptureOne and fell in love with it and was compelled to purchase it. One of the aspects I like about CaptureOne is the ability to take a photo shoot of several hundred pictures and quickly move around from image to image to find few one in the series I like. One can easily increase the size of the thumbnail based on the subject. Then the ability to batch process 50 images and step away to later fine tune them in Photo Shop.

Being able to quickly apply settings (White Balance, Levels, Color) is another outstanding feature of Capture One. My experience in Computer Science lets me appreciate the difference between good and bad algorithms. I am very please with the efficiency and results of CaptureOne.

My Questions are:

How does CameraRAW handle the selection process of hundreds of pictures?

How is the speed and accuracy of CameraRAW algorithms compare to CaptureOne?

Can anyone point me to a review, which directly compares CameraRAW and CaptureOne, or are they in two difference camps and should not be compared because of their price differences?

In the end, as professionals, which would you use or is it like most things in the world of photography, it depends on the needs of the job?

Tony
