ImagePrint 6 Notes
Thursday September 2, 2004
by Mitch Alland

I am pleased to see that the new ImagePrint manual for v6 is a great improvement over earlier versions and is, in fact, excellent. The extensive Troubleshooting Guide section is a good addition. Also, as program installation has been simplified, I believe that most questions on IP problems that come up on online forums can now be answered by suggesting, in the best Unix tradition, that the user "look it up in the manual...." These notes are based on ImagePrint 6 build 1.08. If you are using a later build some of the issues and glitches discussed below may have been fixed, as ColorByte is aware of all of them.

AuthorSubject: 7600 vs. Kodak Approval   [Go to Bottom of Page]

I may soon be working with a corporation helping them set up a product studio. They seem to be tied into Kodak.....alot. At the moment they are being guided by Tech Services International L.P. (TSI) which as I understand is an arm of Kodak, as Kodak acquired them in late 2001. It is my understanding that my client is being advised to by an approval proofer or maybe a few. My clients do have the work flow (the mother load of a workflow that is) and they do use almost all direct to plate plants. I am wondering if they may save some money by using a few 7600s and say image print, also maybe set up on the outside by someone like the digital dog.

I don't want to say anything negative about anyone ever in this forum, but might there be a conflict of interest between TSI and the Kodak Approval system over the cost savings of a perfectly tuned and maintained Epson?
