AuthorSubject: CMYK layer styles problem   [Go to Bottom of Page]

Has anyone else noticed issues with Layer styles and CMYK. I have tryied to use Layer styles in the past to make black only drop shadows to save out and share with other people in my company. However, when the style is re-loaded on the same or other machine, PS "converts" the black only shadow, or any CMYK build, to a 4/c build that seems to be based on the profile in the color settings. ie: something other than black only. I am running on a Mac with OSX 10.2.8.

I have noticed this behavior since PS7. Is Adobe not going to support CMYK build Layer styles? I was not having this problem in PS6. In fact I found an older Mac that has PS 6 still installed. I build the K only layer style drop shadow file. Saved out the file, reloaded it in PS 6 and it was OK. I then loaded the PS 6 style into PS CS and it came in as K only. But the PS CS k only style that I built the same way came into PC CS as a 4/C build. What is up with that?

Thanks for listening,
