I have a two disk raid that I use for Photoshop work that has had great performace since I installed it in August. Most of the time I'm moving data captured on location to the RAID via a portable firewire drive. I process the RAWs and render my high bit files with the RAID and following the shipment of the job to the client I move the finished files to another single drive.

The RAID weighs in at 250 GB but usually only has a few gigs on it at any given time. I'd like to partition it into two sections, one for active jobs maybe 15 GB, and the other remainder for archiving. The second partition will be about 230GB. I would use the bigger portion as a second backup.

Are RAIDs partitionable? If so will the bigger partition degrade the performace of the smaller one? I'm trying to take advantage af all this RAID has to offer, but I don't want to comprimise the speed of my current workflow.
