AuthorSubject: Solution for painful slowness of PK Sharpener in 16-bits?   [Go to Bottom of Page]

I had my first experience of using the new 16-bit version of PK Sharpener (Output Sharpen) on a 16-bit file; and it is sl-o-o-o-w: so slow that it doesn't seem worthwhile to use it on a 16-bit -- perhaps its better to go down to 8-bits and then use the Outoput Sharpen. What do you think?

(I should hasten to state that this is in my environment which is a 1GB Ram 500MHz Mac PowerBook, perhaps a ridiculous environment but that's what I have been using for a variety of reasons.) I should also state that, once it was finished, Output Sharpen did a great job.

The file I used was a grayscale 16-bit 78.6MB file that I had to convert to RGB, and by the time I was finished I had a 1.2 or 1.4 GB file. Would it be possible to enable PK Sharpener to be able to work on Grayscale files?
