Running Win XP pro, 512 meg ram, 463 available, 70% (324) allocated to Photoshop.

As soon as I open the program, it creates a 150 meg swap file, even before I have opened any files.

If I start working before the swap file is fully established, my entire session runs slow, so I spend a bit of time waiting after the program is open for things to settle down.

Annoying, but not a huge deal.

Is this normal, or have I set something up wrong? I generally don't work on very large files - 18 meg is normal, one or 2 open at the same time, hardly any layers - so according to the "ram" rule, I should be ok. My efficience meter rarely, if ever, drops below 100%.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Lenny Cohen
