I've just ran into a whirlwind discussion on a mailing list in which the hotly debated topic was whether or not to leave one's printer "on" even if it's going to be a week or more before a print is run through it.

Leave the printer in the printer "on" but not in regular use and you will jam up the jets, says one camp.

Hogwash says the other camp, better to leave the printer "on" all the time, whether you're printing three times a week, once a week or once a month.

(Okay, I lied, they didn't really say 'hogwash,' which immediately conjures up a whole other topic for discussion... I believe "savage profanity" was used.)

So... what's the conventional wisdom here? Leave the printer always "on" (in my case this would deal with an Epson 2200 and an Epson photo stylus 870). Or turn these buggers off whenever they aren't going to be used.

Thanks -- Brock
