AuthorSubject: Adobe 98 to Adobe 98 "Mismatch"   [Go to Bottom of Page]

I'm opening a file received from a fellow who is scanning some negatives for me. Photoshop informs me of a "mis-match" but both the embedded and working-space are listed as "Adobe RGB 1998". I've asked him and he says it is a difference in gamma from his Mac system to my PC (1.8 vs. 2.2) that's causing Photoshop to indicate the mismatch. And he says that's confirmed by the ligtness of the files when opened. So I figured that if I convert the files from his "Adobe 98" to my "Adobe 98" that that should bring the file's brightness down to appropriate levels. But the files look the same whether I work with the embedded space or convert. Can someone explain why I'm getting a mismatch on what appear to be same color spaces? And is it likely that the over-brightness is a Mac to PC issue and if so, what is the remedy?

Thanks,

Michael
