Iím trying to understand how to use the 16 bit CS benefits to best advantage. At this point I find I can keep many files I deal with in 16 bit throughout my process and then save and archive the file as 16 bit. Great.

But there are some files that grow so large as the number of layers increases that itís slowing my machine to a crawl. I realize that if I werenít correcting on layers that all my changes in 16 bit would have an advantage over those I might have done in 8 bit. What I donít get is what happens to adjustment layers when converting to 8 bit. Example: Iíve got a 16 bit scan with many adjustment layers and more changes coming. The file has gotten large enough to make me want to convert to 8 bit to reduce size. Have I lost the advantage of the 16 bit corrections so far if I convert at this point?
