AuthorSubject: PS CS vs PS 6 screen representations   [Go to Bottom of Page]

Hello all,

I'm hesitant to ask my question because I've never seen mention of this same problem on any forum and I've searched many. But, nothing ventured, nothing gained so here I go.

I have a calibrated monitor and when using PS 6 in Mac OS 9 I get very accurate screen representaions. When PS 7 came out I switched to Mac OS X. Using the same color settings the screen representations were very different (PS 7 showed a much lighter image). I chalked this up to almost anything my imagination could think up. I was satisfied with using PS 6 in classic mode ( which gave me the same screen representations as PS 6 running natively). Then came along PS CS and I am no longer happy with PS 6 in classic mode. Primarily I need to work with Raw images from my Digital Rebel in 16 bit mode. I hoped and prayed that my problem would be specfic to PS 7 and would be non existent in PS CS. It wasn't. I have a dual G4 running 10.3.2 with two monitors. One is a calibrated CRT and the other an LCD(uncalibrated) that my palettes reside upon. Can this Dual monitor set up be causing problems with screen representaions? I've noticed in my color settings under RGB working spaces that the correct profile is listed as my monitor RGB (RGB space is set to AdobeRGB). I have tried switching the menu bar onto the monitor that the images reside upon. No luck.

Now to my question:

Has anyone experienced this same problem and does anyone know what could be causing it?

I'm desperate to use PS CS but can't unless my screen representaions are at least as accurate as PS 6. Thanks in advance for anyones input.
