I've been shooting my digital assignments with two matched 6mp DSLRs, one with a wide zoom, the other with a tele zoom. When shooting in JPEG (which, I confess, I'll do for some commercial jobs with little or no stock potential), I'm able to edit the wide and tele shots of the same situation together, thanks to the "Sort by Time Captured" function in Photo Mechanic. If you set your cameras' date and time exactly to each other, you can see all the pictures from the same situation together, even though they're on different CF cards from different bodies.

But shooting in RAW is a different story. I can preview the pix in Photo Mechanic, but I can't process out of there (or if I can, I don't know how). The CS browser does not offer a "Sort by Time Captured", so I'm stuck looking at the same situation in different folders, which drives me nuts. I'm contemplating shooting a couple of upcoming stock trips in digital, preferably RAW. But the prospect of the disjointed editing is giving me pause.

My question: do you think Photoshop CS browser might, in the future, offer the "sort by time captured" option? If not, does anyone have suggestions on how I might be able to work with existing software to sort and process pictures of the same situation from two different cameras?

I'm probably missing something really obvious, because it seems like such a logical feature. But I also realize that many of my more digitally savvy colleagues and friends are shooting with one very expensive 11mp body and this hasn't come up for them. Thanks for any suggestions. Bob Krist
